Our Story

It is with the opening of a still working car wash in Balzers, Liechtenstein, on December 17, 1974, that ETA Tecnik AG, founded by Wilfried Vogt, started self-service high pressure car washing, which was largely unknown in Europe at the time.

Six years later, the company produced the washing machines itself under the brand name Uniwash, which ETA created as a synonym for customer-friendly self-service systems, gentle cleaning and perfect cleanliness.

In addition to the development of its own self-service car wash network covering Switzerland, Italy and Austria, the company provided its innovative car wash technology also to others. The specialty of Uniwash washers is that they simply, with just two programs, ensure the perfect, spotlessly shiny cleanliness of cars, without exposing their users to the risk of scratches from a brush.

In 1993 ETA founded its Hungarian subsidiary, Uniwash Kft., to provide a service background for its car washes which started to spread rapidly in the early 1990s in the gas station network of OMV.

The Hungarian subsidiary’s activities were expanded in 1995 with the production of Uniwash high-pressure self-service car washes, which Uniwash Kft. has been carrying out since 1999 in its own 1500 m2 plant in Budapest.

At Uniwash Kft., continuous product development is also ongoing, and over time production ceases at the parent company in Liechtenstein. The car washes, vacuum cleaners and reverse osmosis modules under the Guld brand are completely Uniwash Kft.’s own developments.

In 2020, in preparation for the retirement of the founders, Kvalix Automatika Kft., experienced in industrial automation and product development, become the owner of Uniwash Kft. By this time, Uniwash Kft. had already installed nearly 700 washing bays, for which it also provides high-quality service and detergent supply. 2020 also saw the company move to a new industrial hall and introduce an ERP system.

From 2021, the Uniwash trademark is used in the car wash network of our former parent company, while production and service of car washes is carried out under the Kvaliwash brand.
